Results of the October 2009 Kalamazoo Duoubles Tournament

A GIANT PICKLEBALL THANK-YOU to all our players and sponsors for making our second Kalamazoo Round Robin Doubles Tournament a success. The Portage YMCA hosted 56 players and volunteers on Friday and Saturday, October 2nd and 3rd.

Special thanks to Lee's Adventure Sports for providing T Shirts and donating a paddle for our drawing. Our food vendors were awesome: Treat Street for Saturday lunch, Papa John's for Friday night pizza, Full City Café for Saturday breakfast treats, Meijer for fresh fruit all day, Dr Pepper/Snapple Group for Snapple and Sports Drinks, Gordon Water for refreshing filtered water, Biggby Coffee for Regular & Decaf all day and our wonderful volunteer, Joyce Sickle, for all the decorations and delightful snacks in between meals. Another huge THANK YOU to Recognition Inc for donating all the medals and to the YMCA staff who made the court time available and helped us so much with set-up and tear-down.

Most of all, thank you players and volunteers. You were an awesome group! I saw great sportsmanship and exciting on-court action all weekend. Our Drill Instructors did a terrific job on Friday night. Our Crazy Mixed Up Doubles made it fun and easy to meet new people. Our referees, both local and from afar, did a great job on Saturday. Our scorekeeper and registration crews kept the event running smoothly.

We hope you liked our little blue & red "Round Robin" logo on the website and on your awards. Round Robin will stay with us as long as we keep the round robin format. Watch for our next event in the spring. We hope to provide Spring and Fall Pickleball tournaments in Kalamazoo for 2010 … so watch your emails and watch the website for dates and times.
